KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Kidepo valley is one of Uganda’s most spectacular parks. Few undertake the pilgrimage to the park but the spectacular beauty of this pristine wilderness impresses all that make it.
Kidepo is tucked away into the corner of Uganda’s north-eastern border with Sudan and Kenya and harbours scenery and animals that cannot be found in any other park in east Africa, including 28 that are found in no other Ugandan National park. These include the Bat-eared Fox, Carcal, Cheetah and Klipspringer
The park is located approximately 220 kilometres (140 by road northwest of Moroto, the largest town in the sub-region. Its location is approximately 520 kilometres (320 by road, northeast of Kampala. It will be a major trek from the orphanage unless you have your own vehicle but that is not to say we advise against it. On the contrary, grandiose journeys like this are often the most rewarding. Alternatively an organised pilgrimage from Kampala may be more viable and logistical (and boring haha).
